Wait just a gosh darn second partner. Are you telling me there are giant Veldspar asteroids down there and nobody is mining them? Station size? Just floating there? |

Dracvlad wrote:Perhaps if CCP created a T2 version of the Venture mining frigate that had immunity to bubbles and a covert ops type cloak then people would chance their arm, but CCP would never do anything as sensible as that would they?
I have this vision of thousands of carebear T2 Ventures flooding through the bubbled choke points out intro those systems ignored by the large entities and like a shoal of fish mining their full and then screaming back, what joy that would bring to the few immersive players left in Eve, but alas it is not to be.... Alas all that will be left are meta gamers, power gamers and tear collectors, the question is who out of those will be the stronger, watch this space...
That would be freaking awesome. What would even be better is if there was some sort of Capital Ship that could store mining vessels in their hold and bypass the bubble camps altogether with some sort of jump drive. What if it also had a clone feature where miners could jump directly to this vessel, also bypassing the bubbled jump gates.
Alas - CCP would never go for it because they care only for the power gamers and griefers. |

Dracvlad, before you go and try to be the leader of Hub Zero, may I kindly suggest that you spend more time on solutions rather than problems? Oh Wait - you quit Eve, I forgot. |

I was there for the original Hub Zero. I originally flew with Aaron and then I joined the group that broke off from him, which eventually turned into Local-Spike.
Here are the facts guys. You can trust Aaron and Dracvlad. You will have fun with them. The danger of NPC nullsec makes it fun. The logistics challenge makes it fun.
You are certainly going to have a better time than running missions or mining in highsec. Best of all you get to play with other people.
At the end of the day Eve is about playing with other people and pew pew. Here is a ZERO barrier way for you to try it out. You simply have to show up and you now are playing Eve with other people in a fun area.
I'm kind of sick of hearing about Faction Warfare and RVB - here is an alternative. If you're just spinning your ship at a trade hub in empire, why not find out what the game is really about? Scrapping together a living in the ass end of space, being the underdog, it's a good time.
The threadnaught may be a lazy or unfair way to go about recruiting for the dream, but that doesn't change the fact that a lot of people could end having a great time and adding a little content to the game: An independent, nuetral-ish trade hub in Stain.
Will it work? I don't know. Eventually people are going to want to blow everything up that moves. Stain is boring sometimes.
Good luck guys.

Most of this doom and gloom goes right out of the window when you consider that there are still original hub zero members based in UF-KKH. I personally lived in that same Stain pipe for many years along with a handful of other Hub Zero refugees. It was challenging, but it was fun. None of us complained that it was too hard, because it wasn't. In fact, it was the most fun I had in the game.
I'm not saying there aren't problems, but the ones you guys keep talking about don't really exist. And say what you want about Aaron, he does have tenacity and enthusiasm for the game.
